Architects create space for living. Architecture is a Functional Art and a Pleasurable Science. Its implementation requires a fine balance of Codes, Functions, Aesthetics, Innovation, Technology, Time and Cost. Good Architecture is a major component of the positive influence on the human environment. Successful implementation requires the employment of abundant resources, dedication, interest and the inputs of a multi-disciplinary team.
Design Consortium Limited was formed in 1976 by its founder Directors, of whom, Lakshman Alwis and Nalin Wijeyekoon have functioned to-date.

DCL has designed several prestigious Building Projects, such as Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo North Hospital Professorial Unit, Central Bank Extension Building and Kotalawala Defence Academy.
In keeping with its declared philosophy, DCL provides a multi-disciplinary building consultancy. It is geared to provide a comprehensive Consultancy Service in Architectural, Structural & Civil, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Landscaping, Interior & Urban Design, Quantity Surveying and Development Planning. Where necessary, DCL makes use of well established relationships with outside consultants.

Description  Office building consisting of Basement, Ground Floor, Mezzanine Floor and six Upper Floors in a total floor area of 2385 Sq.m.

Description  Trans Asia (Ramada Renaissance Hotel then) considered to be one of the finest Hotel Buildings in the world was constructed in 1985 at an approximate cost of Rs. 1250 Million. Design Consortium Limited were the main Architects and Consultants for this project. The Interior Designers were Bent Severin Associates. The building consists of 7 floors with a total of 358 rooms.

Description  12 storied Apartment Complex with 2 levels of parking, rooftop terrace 60 apartments units. Building will be constructed in 3 phases. Total number of housing units is 300

Description  This project was awarded to Design Consortium Ltd. by Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. This is located at Ratmalana, 12 km from Colombo, Sri Lanka in a land extent of 48 acres, which was once the residential estate of late General Sir John Kotelawala, a former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. The Academy was formally opened on Army Day, 11 October 1980. The KDA was instituted with the main objective of imparting academic knowledge in a military background to young ladies and gentlemen suitable to be commissioned officers in the armed forces in Sri Lanka. The building consists of larger auditorium, lecture rooms, laboratory and well established library.

Description  The building has been designed consisting of a Basement, 2 Lower Ground Floors and 5 Upper Floors to house the Bank of Ceylon Supergrade Branch, Bank of Ceylon Provincial Office and Provincial Asst. Manager’s Quarters, 2 Managers Quarters, one floor of commercial areas and parking for approx. 50 vehicles. It has also facilities for the Bank of Ceylon Training Centre for the Central Province. This Building has been designed incorporating several Kandyan architectural embellishments, creating the required character and style not competing with the majesty of the Dalada Maligawa. The Building cost is Rs. 260 Million in 1999.
