Remarkable event linked to the international
architectural arena, the 19th General Assembly of the Commonwealth
Association of Architects (CAA) was hosted by Sri Lanka Institute of
Architects and was held concurrently with the Annual Sessions of
SLIA. Although Sri Lanka is one of the founder member
countries of CAA, this was the first time in history that Sri Lanka
hosting the general assembly of CAA. A Student Design
Competition was also be held as part of CAA proceedings.
The event
was graced by eminent figures of the global architectural fraternity
such as the President of International Union of Architects - Archt.
Louis Cox from Australia, President of CAA - Archt. Gorden Holden
from Nealand, President Elect CAA - Archt. Mubassar Husseine from
Bangladesh. Also, Archt. Gorden Chong from USA, Archt. Kenneth Yang
from Malaysia as well as the Immediate Past President of the Union
of International Architects (UIA) - Archt. Gei Tan Sue from
Mauritius graced the event as key note speakers. Archt. Jayantha
Perera, Immediate Past President, SLIA was the National Convenor -
CAA Colombo 2010.
