Building for Rehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injured Patients

SLIA was invited to be a stakeholder to provide consultancy services in the construction of a halfway home for the physically disabled at Spinal Cord Injured Patients at Avissawella.

It is to house persons with disabilities who face physical, social, economic and attitudinal barriers that exclude them from effectively participating as equals in society.

The facility is nearing completion and its opening is scheduled for 5th October by the Hon. Minister of Health of Sri Lanka Dr. Rajitha Senaratne. Further to the initial consultancy services offered by SLIA, a committee has been formed to design the surrounding of the building with additional customized model dwellings to help patients with spinal cord injuries to be able to manage their activities of daily living their injuries.
